My computer refuses to produce sound, but my sound card is fine

My SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS card works perfectly well, but no sound will come out of my computer. I have up-to-date drivers and a new speaker system because I thought the old one might be faulty. If you start a song and turn the speaker to the max and listen real closely, you can barely distinguish the song, so I know it is there. Can anybody help me?

So how do you know that your Audigy works perfectly?

Thank you to all those who stopped by and looked. Ive solved the problem. The cable connecting the card to the headphone jack on the front panel was faulty and caused what i believe to be a short. If I had known about this possibility I would have used my volt meter on that thing sooner. Thank you again.
