Issue with moving HD Media files

I have a 5 gb HD file that's in a 40 gb partion with 18 gb free; yet I'm told that there isn't enough memory to transfer it to my external hard drive. Any suggestions?

...you should convert that partition from FAT32 to NTFS because to FAT you can transfer only files that are 4GB or less...

Thank you for that, I used another hard drive with its file system set to NTFS and it worked like a charm.
