Recurring, varying BSOD messages
I run XP under Bootcamp on my Macbook. A few months back it was dropped and the screen smashed. I've only just installed a new one, and it was running fine until I connected my firewire soundcard. Since then it's sometimes refused to start, or required I hold it at a certain angle. If I move around with it on my lap, it triggers the BSOD. Now, when I boot-up in OSX the same happens. It can be fine, but the even gentle fiddling can provoke the equivalent MacOS crash.
Obviously it could be related to my screen installation, but some of the messages appear to be related to other hardware issues. Before I complain to my retailer that the screen isn't appropriate (having already checked the connection is fine, many times), would these be indicative of the original accident having caused hardware damage to the rest of the machine? Many thanks for your help! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Argh - I have images of all the error messages, but it won't let me post them until I've reached 5 posts...

Is it ok to post like this in order to get to 5?

Seems to defeat the object of having the 5-post minimum.

With those error codes I suggest running memtest first. Please run it no less than 7Passes, otherwise it defeats the purpose. This takes a long time but well worth it.

However, I'm running Win XP under Bootcamp, and it doesn't let me run bootable CDs in the same way as a Windows/PC machine normally would, so I can't run Memtest. There's a layer of software which sits above everything and selects which OS to run, rather than looking for a Windows-style bootable disc. :-/ |
