I got a problem on my Asus CD Burner (model : ASUS CRW-4824A), when i try to burn the some files using Nero 6 (latest version), it always stuck at the 'Simulation' part. And error prompted say that 'Simulation failed at 40X' . I have enough free space (few GB and RAM (196ram) and updated firmware, but why still i cannot burn the files. When i plug another burner into the same PC, it works fine without any issues. Could it be the burner hardware's failure? Below is the error log i get from Nero :

Have you tried burning without simulation? Maybe it's just some nero bug..

You can also try disabling Windows builtin CD burning (if XP) and installing the latest ASPI layer from Adaptec.

You can put the file anywhere you want. You can extract the content anywhere you want too. Then read the documents inside for installation instructions.

I see the error reads that it failed the simulation at 40X and you've got the "determine maximum speed=false". Are you specifying that you want this to burn at 40X and if you are, is the media capable of it? Just a thought. I'd set it to auto myself.

Just my $.02.

"Detect maximum speed" means that Nero will test how fast it can read data off the HD. The maximum speed or the CD-R is detected from the media itself and you cannot set it higher.

Thanks for the reply, i just bought my CDR disc ( Brand : Mitsubishi Chemical) for about 2 months ago, and it should can read at higher speed. But i just borrow another burning software called 'RecordNow Deluxe 7' from my friends, will try to burn and see the outcome. Since u guys give me the hints at the burning speed, i'll try to lower the Simulation and Burn speed. Also will try other brand CDR disc to burn, see ya..

Hi, I try the 'Sonic RecordNow Deluxe 7' and try TDK CDR disc, i can burn the data. So i think the source almost is from the CDR..
