There are safer ways to test your AV protection than trying to download a virus.
Any of the major AV protection companies should have a test you can run by downloading a small program from their site. I would be extremely careful here. FW |

There is a test file called EICAR test signature, download it here.
http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar_com.zip This is harmless it just displays EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE! I've disassembled this and it contains a virus signature that is never executed. |
