In another of these great mysteries that only seem to happen in the IT industry, it looks like in the USA Athlon64 laptops have been disappearing from store shelves all over the country leaving only P4Ms and PMs, the chip without the 4. Conspiracy theories have been raging, things from Intel payoffs to myopic execs are the current message board buzz.

My theory, of course, is that Bill Gates has made a secret deal with Intel where he has to go around all electronics stores in the USA in person and singlehandedly buy up all of the laptops himself! However, it looks like there is a different explanation.
