Microsoft believes 'Sender ID' will combat spam

Microsoft today held a summit with members of the E-Mail Service Provider Coalition to discuss how "Sender ID" technology can be used to combat spam.

Microsoft believes Sender ID is the answer to this problem, that is plaguing the internet. I am sure you are all aware of the vast problem of spams about viagra, genital extensions creams and get rich quick rubbish that pollutes your inbox on a regular basis.

Sender ID validates the server Internet Protocol address of the sender, to assure an e-mail recipient that a message claiming to be from a sender actually is from that sender.

Several companies have, in addition to Microsoft, planned to release products that are based on this technology.
