Official TS Anthem Thread

Flame Bait, come and get it

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Et en francais,

O Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Here's the unofficial anthem:

Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

My name is Joe!!
And I am Canadian!!!

Irelands national anthem sucks (says the man using a .gov.ie connection, ahem). "Amhrain na bFiann"/"The Soldiers Song"

As does our unofficial second anthem. It sucks more, really, as its really cheesy. Its "Irelands Call", and its used at events when the normal anthem is unnaccpetable, such as rugby matches (as we share a team with Northern Ireland).

the unofficial anthem is just a rant authored by our beloved beer company (now a subisdiary of Anheiser-Busch)

Nothing wrong with Amhrain na bFiann my friend, Im not a fan of national anthems in general but I think as far as they go Amhrain na bFiann isnt too bad.

On that note the best version of it I have ever heard was at this years olympics.

Scince when is Canada a landmass?!?

Sorry guys, all wrong, this is IT.

A Nation Once Again

When boyhood's fire was in my blood,
I read of ancient freemen,
For Greece and Rome who bravely stood,
THREE HUNDRED MEN AND THREE MEN.
And then I prayed I yet might see,
Our fetters rent in twain,
And Ireland, long a province, be
A NATION ONCE AGAIN.

And from that time, through wildest woe,
That hope has shone, a far light;
Nor could love's brightest SuMmer glow
Outshine that solemn starlight:
It seemed to watch above my head
In forum, field and fane;
Its angel voice sang round my bed,
"A NATION ONCE AGAIN."

It whispered, too, that "Freedom's ark
And service high and holy,
Would be profaned by feelings dark
And passions vain or lowly:
For freedom comes from God's right hand,
And needs a godly train:
An righteous men must make our land
A NATION ONCE AGAIN.

So, as I grew from boy to man,
I bid me to that bidding -
My spirit of each selfish plan
And cruel passion riding;
For, thus I hoped some day to aid -
Oh! can such hope be in vain?
When my dear country shall be made
A NATION ONCE AGAIN

Isn't the Irish national anthem
"God F-k the Queen" by the Exploited?

No, considering the current Queen wasn't in power until 4 years after we left the commonwealth, 14 years after we became a full republic and 31 years after we got independence...

Its a bad translation of a bad ballad from around 1910.
