corrupt file

puke:

Started off with error "File is missing or corrupt: WIndows root>\system32\32\hal.dll.

Tried to reboot and using recovery disk but not success.

Now I get Drive O on the primary EIDE controller is operating outside normal specs and it will not boot from CD. Just gives me strike f1 or f2.

I am just a home growth computer guy with littel knowlegde on computers, anyone can help. please do!!!

It could be as simple as a bad drive cable(Try a new cable). It could be a bad drive on the cable (try disconnecting one at a time from the cable) or it could be a bad controller on the motherboard (Try using the second HD controller header). Not much help, am I?
