Is there a free program out there to repair CAB files?

Hello everyone, and thank-you in advance,
I have been attempting to install Office XP Pro over my Office 2000 pro in windoes XP Home. I have recieved the error 1355 message over and over. I read the thread about the issue, I tried installing from HDD in the C:/Flatfile, with clean boot, without clean boot, followed all the workarounds in the Microsoft Knowedge base. Is there a way to really find out if the archive is corrupted. Or better yet is there a free program out there to repair the archive. I tried ACR (advanced cab repair), but 50 bucks for a program I may use once or twice is too much. Sorry to ramble on, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If your CD is legal, get it replaced!
