Cannot open or delete file in W2k PRO SP4
I am having no luck when trying to delete a large (2.5GB) AVI file from My Documents:
1 - "Explorer has encountered an error" message when just clicking on it 2 - "Access denied" messages when trying to delete from command line, even in safe mode 3 - I burned the file onto a DVD for archival from this same PC. 4 - My PC hangs when I simply click on the file from the DVD drive. 5 - I'm the Administrator, and I originally copied the file, so access isn't the problem. I may have screwed things up by aborting the original effort to copy from the DVD to My Documents, but bottom line I can't touch the thing now. Any ideas? Hello and welcome to Techspot.
Things you could try are 1 Try to delete the file from the programme you used to burn the DVD. 2 Right click on the file and try to rename it then try deleting it 3 create a new folder and call it whatever you like and drag the file and drop it into that folder and try to delete the whole folder. Also, boot in safe mode and try to delete it from there, or use a W98-bootfloppy if your HD is formatted in FAT32 and try to delete it in DOS.
