A7N8X running slow
Just bought a ASUS A7N8X
Put a AMD 3000+ 333MHz Baron CPU and COSAIR VS512MB400 BIOS REV 1010 DATE: 8/4/2004 BIOS Settings 166 X 2 (333MHz) FSB 1.65V Memory setting 200 MHz WD 20g HD CD LIT-ON 48X24X48 CD-RW RAIDON 9200 Currently running W98S new install. System is running very slow. My AMD 1GHz ran fast. I can not open two programs at once. I open my FIREFOX and takes forever to load this site. COX cable running at 166K but my other 3COM had 540K download. Figured I might disable the on-board NIC and put the 3COM in this new system. My BIOS might be set wrong or old BIOS. Please any reply to my slow problem on my newly built system. Thanks ahead JC |

Spyware?
your ram should run synchronous with the CPU...in theory. never tried it otherwise. |

I have the -X cheap cousin.
It's been great for over 1.5 year. 2500+ here. I'm running at stock speed and 200Mhz RAM speed no problem. I could o/c it if I wanted to and I had. Up to 2.2 ghz stable. My BIOS is 1009. 1010 would turn my PC on if there was net activity a # of times. Yes I disabled the option to wake up from lan.Could you try www.knoppix.net and see if Linux boots up and runs faster? |

SW Test
I ran some test and found my FSB is 166MHz not 333MHz.
I believe this is the reason why my system is running very slow. My BIOS is set at 166MHz at rated 13 which is 2158. AMD 3000+ is 2.2MHz Barton Cache ![]() CPU

HD might be the cause
I downlaod the 3dmark5 program and would not start. The HD keep freezing.
Does anyone know a system software to check the HD speed and motherboard check? I believe the Maxtor 2B020H1 is running at 33 or 66 and not 133. I have tried different OS and they were all slow. I have been working on this for a week. Now I change the HD to a Maxtor 52049H3 and now my A7N8X is running a little faster. My newest Max 2B020H1 worked fine in my ABIT 7RAID motherboard at 33 ATA and 66. I now remember it was slow when over worked by running 3 different software at one time. I always figured it was my slow system. Now I believe my HD will not work at 133 or 100. I would like to test it since it works with my ABIT motherboard. Thanks again for all your help. |

3d mark will not work if there is a video card problem or your direct x is messed up and a few other things. Did you install the motherboard drivers?

Vxd Savrt
I installed Direct 9x and yes I installed the lan, audio, and usb. There were no other drivers.
I do get a Fatal Exception error VDX SAVRT (02) blue screen when I do a restart. It happen sometimes. I figure it is a driver problem but the system show no problems. I did a memory test using testmem.exe file from the internet. I believe it maybe the lan driver. I am using all the latest from ASUS. I am going to try a 3COM 100 NIC card and disable the nForce LAN on board. |

GO to Nvidia and get the drivers these are the ones I use and have no problem what so ever as you can see with a aquamark score over 39000 wich is great for a socket"A" and 333fsb..HereThis is a really great board and buy chance what ram are you running?
