Super Wierd Problem with a Dell Inspiron 1100
Ok been through my vendor, been through Dell and no solution as of yet...
Ok I have serveral Dell I1100 and 2 Latitude 640s. I order memory to upgrade the laptops (1100s had 128mb, Latitudes 256mb.) Now they all take PC2100 memory DDR 266. Now the memory does not read in the dell 1100s it simply flashes the scroll lock and num lock for a few seconds then shuts it self off (tried it with different memory and different laptops). Now the memory works fine in the Latitudes. I even took the latitude memory and placed it in the 1100 and same problem. However when I take the 1100 memory and put it in the latitude it works fine (also FYI the latitudes are about 1 year older then the 1100s) so I'm really stumped. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fred Bender fbender@fairfield.k12.nj.us |

The difference must be in the CAS latency of those sticks. Nearly all Dells require CAS=2.
2.5 or 3 will not work in most cases. |
