"CPU Fan Error" with A8V Deluxe
I installed an Athlon 3400 on the A8V deluxe and bought an AMD heatsink rated to work with up to a 3800 Athlon. I connected the three pin heatsink power cable to the mobo's CPU_FAN connector, and the heatsink's fan is spinning. However, I keep getting a CPU Fan Error on boot.
It may be okay now, but i'm afraid it will fail later and I'll never know about it until it's too late. Last edited by father_hoyt; 06-04-2005 at 01:55 PM.. |

Check bios
Check bios settings.
On booting up hit the "delete" key or f1 to get into your bios/cmos, Check to see what settings are there for fan speed (rpm) alarm or cpu temp alarm. Thewy could be set too low. Adjust carefully to help determine cause of trouble. You may also want to plug cpu fan power into another fan plug on MoBo. Are you having troubles booting into windows or not passing the boot up post? G'Luck Post back and let us know. |

The computer had been hanging on the bootup BEFORE it started loading windows, requiring a keystroke to continue. Now it sails right through into Windows. Thanks a lot! :hotbounce |
