System specs
Do you have Windows Installer 3.1 installed?

I've noticed that MSI packages won't usually install if DCOM server process service is disabled - and of course Windows Installer service needs to be running as well.

Does Event Viewer show anything else?

This site is about all I can add to your problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q315346

You might also consider running MemTest86.

MemTest86: http://www.memtest86.com/
Put MemTest on a floppy, and boot your coputer from that floppy. The test takes hours to run, but as soon as you see memory errors, then you know the memory has issues, then you can stop the test, and replace any bad memory.
