Unable to install Macromedia Flash in IE

For some reason, I am unable to install Macromedia Flash in IE. I already enabled all the cookies and Active Control X options as well as lowering my IE security.

What is going on? However, the flash works fine in my Firefox browser...

Flash Player

I'm having the same problem. Able to use Firefox but can not view any thing with I. Explorer. All I get is a red box with an X.

I've reinstalled windows XP and still have the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok...

So you are installing it by the online process.

Try to download offline installer and close all browsers and install it.

Are you actually being prompted to install the player? Where is it falling over?

The flash player object could be corrupt.

Try deleting it:

Tools, Internet Options
Settings (under browsing history)
View Objects

That will take you to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files

Find any Macromedia objects, right click and remove them.

Then reinstall either from activex install or standalone install as amagnien says.

You should first go into Add/Remove Programs (if XP) and remove it.

Then reboot.

Then go to the download site and be patient - it takes some time for the process to finally show the successful download graphics.

I agree with you CCT but if you uninstall it and install it on the old Internet Explorer it will still not work.
