fan controller - which one?
I just bought a vantec tornado 80mm fan ...
it's very LOUD and right now I don't need so much air movement. Vantec has a 'Nexus' brand fan controller on their web site. Can anyone recommend a good Fan Controller? ![]() |

Any baybus will work great, and you can adjust the speed just by flipping around a switch in a spare 5.25" bay. Go to your favorite online computer retailer and search for 'baybus'.
If you have an ASUS system board, an iPanel would work great. |

The main thing to remember is that RPM is not directly proportional to CFM, this means that the speed to airflow ratio is not a linear curve. Decreasing the fan speed a little will decrease airflow a lot more than you might expect. The curve is gradual at first, then drops greatly. Using a baybus is a very good idea because it will allow you to monitor the temps that are affected by the fan(s) you are controlling. If you just use a controller without monitoring, then you run the risk of overheating components.
