Installing Windows XP on Sata HD

I've been trying to install Windows XP on my Western Digital SATA HD. I got the drivers that came with my motherboard, and made a floppy disk with the drivers, and put the windows cd in, and booted up. Everything goes fine i hit f6 load the drivers, and then i get to the partition part, and setup a partion and windows copies some files to the hd, then it reboots, only it doesn't continue with the install after the reboot, it just boots from the cd again and goes through the same process, and when i get the partitioning part, It makes me delete the one i created before and do it all over again... any help would be great!! I'm at a loss, I've installed windows before and even on a SATA drive before, not sure what i'm doing wrong now.

Thanks
Jason

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!

When windows reboots after partioning & copying files,
you need to go into the bios and reset the boot priority
from cdrom to hdd.
Alternative:
Pop the cd out let it boot to the hdd, then pop the cd back in.

What is your MOBO? and is sata\raid enabled in the bios? most mobos do not have the raid capability enabled by default.

Wd

Some chipset can not run higher than 150mb transfer.
@ the WD forum they were having ppl limit the transfer
rate with a jumper. These ppl could'nt get windows install
to see there drives at all, let alone partition them.

I'll see if I can find the post again..and edit this post if I can..
