cant install xp on new hard drive
please help me ive tried for days now and cant install xp
ive got p4 with 80g hard drive which ive formatted as ntfs as i was told xp liked this better than fat32 when it comes to copying files to my windows instalation folders it gets so far and then cant copy different files and asks to retry skip or quit i can only ever get this far and its usually never the same files that it cant copy if i miss skip the first file then it goes on a bit further then cant copy again please help i dont know what i can do to get it to load ![]() |

during the windows setup, you are prompted with a screen where you can choose your partition to install to. What you shoudl do there is delete that partition, and then create a new one, and format it as NTFS. All of this can be done during windows setup. Then unless you hd or IDE cable is damaged, it should install.

ive already formatted as ntfs and i bought new cables with the hard drive so no its still not working ![]() |

CD-drom or disk
Try using a differant CD-rom or get hold of another XP disk, I've had the same hassle before and it turned out to be my cd-rom that was faulty.
