Overheated P4 2.4 GHz socket 478
I Think that I have cooling problem with my P4 processor.
At this moment the processor has 60°C (140°F) and the CPU cooling fan is running at 5200 rpm. I think those values are big and I don't know how to fix it. When my PC is idle the processor has a temperature of 53°C (128°F) I'm currently using the original cooler that was packed with the processor and at 5200 rpm it makes a lot of noise. Could it be MB problems or could it be Power source problems? I hope you guys can help me! Regards Horacio |

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!
I'll assume this is a prescott core?
They run very hot :hotbounce ,(new ones too) even when not OC'd. I took the plunge with mine and went liquid cooling. Your temp is not as hot as I've heard prescotts can run. 90°c seems to be the max and a major concern. :hotouch: Are you getting heat related problems, BSOD, lock ups etc.? There are many heat management solutions, from: 1.Larger heatsink & fan {80mm+} 2.heatpipe fanless technology 3.liquid cooling 4.And the extreme, submersion in glyceryn or mineral oil 5.Cryonically sealed I recommend either 1 or 3. Try re-seating your hsf with fresh thermal paste (artic silver 3 or 5) Blow out any dust from hsf. Maybe take a closer look into your case airflow. |
