New Server Design by IBM Could Be As Easy To Put Together as Lego

IBM's Almaden Research Center has built a prototype of a storage and server system that has a whole new approach to how hardware is connected together.

Code-named "Ice Cube", this modular model should keep costs down and make assembly dead simple. Amongst the additional aims of the design are the elimination of the "spagetti wiring" that can ensue in the current server design and the ability for the modules to be stacked in two different dimensions (hence the Lego metaphor).
