Registry Issues

Hey guys,

I just upgraded to a new computer, 3200+ Athlon 64 bit, 1gig ram, sata hdd, etc etc. now i had to reinstall windows, new hard drive n all etc. when i connected my old IDE drive up, and transferred game files across to my new hard drive, ie half life 2, i have to basically reinstall the whole game again, because of the registry files not being there... Do i have any other options/choices? or do i have to completely reinstall the game and then go through and update again?
