You forgot a very important part - what browser are you using?

I have some idea about what might be causing this problem.

Open IE -> Tools -> Internet Options.
Now go to security tab and set security for Internet to medium.
Now go to privacy tab and set the slider to medium.
Close IE.

Open it up again, go to Macromedia's site and download the newest Flash 8.0.
Try browsing the sites you had problems with again.
