Email notification... :(

I have been trying to disable the forums sending me 5 emails a day telling me that somebody has responded on a thread that i posted on. What is wrong with my settings because it continues to send me emails!

This has been discussed..

... But I don't remember anyone telling exactly how to turn it off. Allow me to pioneer an answer for this complication..

Click on the User CP, then select Edit Options .

Under Messaging and Notification, uncheck "Use e-mail notification by default". This will stop this from being the default option in the future.

Now that you are protected from future notification attacks, it is time to get rid of the damage that is already done. Go to User CP again and choose View All Subscribed Threads. For each thread you have been mistakenly subscribed to, choose "Unsubscribe".

This should solve your problem(s).

FAQ's

What is email notification?

Quote:
What is email notification?
If you post a new thread, or reply to an existing thread, you can choose to be notified by email when someone else replies to that thread. You can also choose to receive email notifications of new posts in a thread without posting in that thread, by clicking the 'Receive updates to this thread' link displayed in the thread page.

If you choose to stop receiving email notifications from a thread, you can turn off the option by either editing your post, or by unsubscribing from the thread here.

Only registered users may receive email notification, and they can set whether they want to receive email notification by default by editing their options.

Email notification is also referred to as 'Thread Subscription'.

System specs
If you posted a reply to someone's thread, then decided that you don't want to get the email notification, then you have to disable it through the options menu. I had this problem, but solved it after disabling the enable email notification. So if you are currently subscribed to a thread then go here to unsubscribe from any post that you are currently subscribed to.
