linux password
i installed linux suse 10 gnome and it asks for a username then password
i never put a password on it, just new installed so i thought it was the same as xp - u just put in your name and press return at the password if u dont want a password but it says its invalid.. any help? cheers |

No, Linux is not Windows. Forget that you ever saw anything with a Microsoft logo on it.
You did put a password in. Even if you chose not to create any users, you were asked the root password during the installation. Assuming you just blindly clicked through it, try username "root" and an empty password. |

If SUSE lets you use a blank password for root, someone needs to start complaining. I'm trying to think of a bigger security flaw...drawing a blank.

I think it's debatable, whether the flaw is in the system that gives users freedom or the users that misuse that freedom.

Well...
Sure windows is worse, on some computers you can boot in safe mode, enter administrator WITHOUT a password and bingo!
It's definitely people's faults(bad grammar) |
