Well as long as you take your time and say "install without tracking features" so Google can see what you browse for then you are ok.

But I am sure a lot of people have just blown through the setup and allow google to see what they are borwsing for.

The free lottery you play has your name, address, and e-mail address, and search engines have a knowledge of your browsing habits, the free newsletter that asked you to place check marks in the boxes beside the subjects that are of interest to you knows your interests, and, because of the Windows Product Activation, Microsoft has a list of the hardware and software on your computer. You can see how easy it would be to construct a very useful user-profile of anyone, and then target them with snail-mail or e-mail.

Another excellent search engine is Vivisimo

It breaks down the links into headings so that you can more easily find what you want, and it usually turns up more links.
