Looking into using linux - Dont know how, need help

well, i've been using windows for a while now so im looking for a change.

i've tried linux in the past but havnt got anywhere with it so i am looking for some help getting my self going

can anyone help?

What would i need?
can you play games on linux?
will wine let me play games on linux?
some good programs
