Unbearable processor fan noise

My pentium processor CPU fan started making huge amount of noise a few days ago. Tried changing a new fan but no use.

Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with the motherboard.....i use an Intel 865GBF board.

Any help will be highly appreciated..

Welcome to the Forums!

1.) Wrong forum to put this. It should go under "Cooling and Modding".

2.) Check to see if the heat sink is tight on the CPU cause if it's loose the fan will make it wobble (hence the noise).

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!

The fan blades tend to get caked up too.
Clean both sides of each blade or simply replace the fan.

Now does this mean

A. You swapped it out, and the noise returns.

Or

B. You could not swap the fan

If A. What kind of noise is it? Is it the whirring of the fan? If so, you may need to turn down the RPM is BIOS, or through a thirdparty App like Speedfan.

If it is a rattling, etc. See if you have it mounted correctly as suggested by Matt.

If B. Are you sure you have the right size fan...with the same power connections?

If you find your processor fan noisy then just remove it.

Hahaha I hope you were joking also. Make sure before you use BIOS to turn the fan speed down you know what everything in BIOS actually means. Don't end up doing something stupid. Check with someone before you change something in BIOS. Or what ATK Spade said. Just use an app to do it.
