annoying BOINC messages

is there a way to turn off annoying BOINC pop-up messages at the bottom of the screen when running BOINC? I can't figure it out -either in the program or online.

I don't need to be alerted that it needs to connect etc....

I searched the entire internet for you Tedster. Some people said it was irritating, but nobody even asked how to turn it off,let alone provided an answer. You could try the BOINC message boards.

I would have no idea, but just in case, if the program uses the Messenger service, you could try turning that service off. But it likely doesn't use Messenger.

I found a soluition off the BOINC website. Apparently there is a bug in the program. You need to go options - options - connections and select "Use my LAN connection" - even if you have broadband on all the time. Don't use "automatically detect my connection settings."
