So is your new XP install botting all the way to the desktop, or are you having issues with that too? I'm not quite clear on that.

I'm not sure what settings you're looking to copy over to your fresh install, but I wouldn't copy anything over except your personal settings and documents. In that case, to copy those you want to just copy your Documents and Settings folder over. The easiest way would just to boot into your fresh install, go into My Computer and grab your Documents and Settings folder and drag it over.

Your favorites from IE and Firefox should copy over as well. However, if you have Outlook or Outlook Express you'll need to go into that store folder and copy your email data files to save those.

Hope this helps!

thanx for the reply b2bomber81

i'm not sure what i want
my system required me to reload every single device driver
or
with certain apps needed all the updates and patches reinstalled
the kicker :
in the install directory such as
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\
i attempt to install the patches and get the error
CANT FIND INSTALL DIRECTORY
u can understand my frustration

i have put the above path in my enviromental variables
to no avail

it's almost like the computer just doesn't know where
anything is

to answer your Q:
i want to play bf2 it's been 3 days

thanks steyr223

i figured as long as i was driving by i could close this
thread(is that possable)
my system is up and running well with 3 copys of xp on the same partition
and i kept all 400GB or so
i guess after a period of time of reinstalling what i needed when i needed,
it appears to be ok

thax steyr223
