people may be shy in forums

im sure u noticed cause i noticed and i jast got started with the whole forum thing, less than 75% of the people that veiw a thread ever post a reply. granted most of it could be people just googleing sumthing and looked in a forum like alot of people do or it could mean alot of people are scared to type sumthing for fear of being mocked... i dont know i will let u decide

Sometimes people view the same thread several times as it develops so the total number of views is not equal to the same number of different people.

I surely hope people do not feel like they will be mocked on TS. This is the friendliest Tech Forum I have seen, probably the reason why I have stayed around so long.

Lot`s of members tend to view posts, but obviously don`t reply, unless they have something valid to say.

If you look at the number of unanswered threads, you`ll see that there aren`t that many, given the number of new threads started each day.

Obviously, there are a few that don`t get answered, either because no one knows the answer, or the members that do know the answer aren`t logged on.

I know I always look at todays posts, after I`ve finished with the security and the web forum and try to reply to as many as I can, if I have the time.

It`s very rare to see anyone being mocked on Techspot. If I, or the other mods saw anything like that going on, you can bet we`d soon have something to say about it.

I agree with AtK SpAdE. Techspot is a very laid back and friendly place and long may that continue.

Regards Howard

For me I think most of my issues have already been asked and answered on this site by the time I get to ask the question. So I dont reply to many. I have lurked allot though. I work in the RFID field with Warehouse Management Systems etc. And there are few questions in that area on this site! I must admit though this site has more knowledgable people on it than any other site I have ever been on.

That, or very occasionally it's impossible to understand the question (quite rarely though)

In the past year I have a pretty high percentage of the threads I've created (concerning a problem) that go unanswered. But I think thats because its an issue that most people here don't know the answer to, because usually I ask for help in the IRC channel first.

I would agree that this is one of the friendlier forums. Also alot of the time, after a quetion has been answered no one feels the need to post on it but it still gets read.

Reasons :
1. When I don't need to reply, (Someone already told what I would suggest)
2. When I don't have to reply, (Problem solved)
3. When I don't want to reply,
4. When I don't know what to reply,
5. When I've got nothing to reply,
6. When there's no point to reply.

This forum is pretty friendly, but I also found other forums with much less users and I find them a lot more pleasant. (I can get answers to some problems I couldn't get any help with here. This place is so well known now that there are a lot of users that ± know something about computers here.)

It happens to everyone, the most often is because it's already answered when you might have liked to... Too much people here!

The one from Spike happens too :
