Need Advice On Graphics Card

i have just recently bought far cry for the pc + cant get it working(only have onboard graphics..TERRIBLE). when i install the game, i get to the main menu + put all the detail settings as low as possible. i get to see the intro then it loads up + suddenly i get a message telling me windows is shutting down to prevent damage to my computer. my specs are: amd athlon 64 k8 newcastle 3000+ 1.6-2.4GHz cpu, asrock k8upgrade vm800 socket 754 mobo, 250GB 8MB samsung sp2504c sata hdd, elixir 256mb ddr400 pc3200 184 pin ram. if i was to get, say, 1GB ram + a good graphics card, could i play the newest games? could i use the nvidia geforce 7600gt with my mobo? im getting a new mobo + cpu soon(asus m2n sli deluxe socket am2 nvidia nforce 570 sli mcp atx amd, amd athlon 64 x2 4600+ windsor 2000MHz ht 2x512KB l2 cache socket am2 dual core cpu + i was planning on getting 2x 7600gt's in sli).....also, could someone reccomend an agp card thatll let me play the newest games(oblivion, f.e.a.r, prey etc) while i save up + build my gaming pc?.....THANK YOU

Heres a good card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814142073. There are better ones(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130274) but it doesnt make sense to spend more money if you're going to overhaul the whole system soon. I dont think theres an AGP version of the 7600GT. Most newer games especially Far Cry run best on at least 1 gig of RAM. The error you're getting is most likely because the onboard video cant handle newer games. You might also be able to overclock your processor another 200mhz. Ive had good luck with the 3000+ and 3200+.

Hm, I would recommend the Nvidia 7800 GS (299.99) it ran run all the games out right now at max'd setting.

System specs
just ensure your system is adequately cooled and powered if you upgrade the card.
