Disk Space
Hi guys, please help me out here. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
My company is fairly small, around 30 employees. We are thinking of getting our own email and web server. Currently we are paying a local ISP to do these things for us. We do have one website w/c is not getting alot of hits, maybe 6 hits/week or less. And we have 30 email addresses to maintain. Now as I've said we are thinking of running our own email and web server and of we are getting a new computer just to handle those. What kind of pc should I get? Please help with system requirements. Thanks alot! |

Your system requirements to serve email and a half-dozen page hits a week would be very, very low.
The only real requirement will depend on the software you intend to run. Windows or Linux? Apache or ISS? Postfix or Exchange? But either way, the most basic 'new' computer stores sell will be more than enough to handle just these things. |

you would be well advised to evaluate a Linux environment.
the only valid reason (imo) against it would be a lack of qualified staff to manage it. |
