CPU running 100%

Here recently my CPU has bee running at 100 %
and remaining there for a long time. I looked in the
windows task manager, and it has about five di-
fferent image names running at 24000 thousand
or more,in the memory usage column. I was going
to remove some of the high memory users, but
I got a warning saying, terminating a process can
cause undesired results. I noticed my computer
has slowed down a lot when, the CPU is run-
ning at 100%. Image names are: iexplore.exe-----
sychost.exe---explorer.exe--- some names repeat.
Is there a safe way to terminate these names?
Thank You
