No, most of that information will not work on Dell latitudes or inspirons or XPS laptops manufactured after May of 2005. All that information, though good, is old... most of it prior to March 05, 2003, and some goes back to 1998 or earlier.

Need major help on a dell inspiron b130

I did a transfer of ownership cause this laptop was given to me and the previous owner can't be found. the warranty is out since jan 08, dell wants to charge me over 100.00 to reset the bios password that comes up on a gray and white screen. I just need to get into it so can reinstall windows xp and i searched this whole forum and i heard that service tags ending in -595B will not work and some say it does, my service tag is G8DNBC1 and Express code is 35335169569, i read from a post by the legendary rustm_ that he can't give out a master password for that tag ending in -595B and we can't Ask him about it.... can anyone help me please!!

I got a Pm for my Hashcode 11117, but unfortunately the password "eqgd58y" does not work. I'll post it here since I can't send a reply to the PM as I don't have 10 posts yet.

Hello,
I managed to get past the service tag...thanks to all the info out there. Lots of reading but got it done. My next problem is I have the Admin & User password and cannot remember for the life of me(probably was the same for the bios).I did try the ctrl-alt-del thing but I cannot bypass them, any suggestions would be awesome!
Thank you,

I used the shorting method. I am not tech. swavey. Alot of investigating and reading. Did my homework before I even tried to do it!

I want to end a HUGE thank you to all that have helped!! I finally got passed my admin password. I used this free download: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolso...r/ophcrack.htm
It took a bit of reading but apparently I have the patience for it!! Kudos to all the info collected on this web site, Amazing info, Awesome peps!!

Thank you,
Nightangel
PS:
I bow to all!

Need major help on a dell inspiron b130 BIOS Password

I did a ownership transfer but however the warranty is off and dell wants 250.00 plus tax from a CC to give me the bios password and hdd password, right now i am not working and need this laptop cause my desktop is dead... is there a way to short the Dell inspiron B130?

Service Tag G8DNBC1
Express code 35335169569

It wont boot to CD OR a floppy drive, it just goes to the Gray and white screen asking for the password with Service Tag ending in -595B, i heard that some people like Rustm_ can do but it is hard to get a hold of him, ANY HELP WOULD BE HUGELY APPRECIATED
