copying vcr tapes to cd

What is the best way to convert a vhs taped movie to a cd/rom?
Also can you reccommend a cd player?

I would have to recommend going to http://www.vcdhelp.com for info on this - they have talked about it extensively there. There are many different ways they've done it.
