sweet but i would recommend a different memory like crucial. heard bad reviews about geils ocing ability.

Yup, and they Socket AM2 is also the future of AMD right now as well.

there sn't much difference right now, because all existing AM2 CPU's are just modified 939 models.

basically 939 is older, and AM2 is the newest from AMD. at the current time they perform pretty close, but when the newer AMD CPUs come out in a few months that should all change (the newer generation CPUs, codenamed "Barcelona", but commonly known as K8L will be AM2 only and will not work with 939). AM2 will offer more future upgrades options.

shop around and see what fits your budget better. 939 uses DDR memory, and AM2 uses DDR2 memory. DDR2 is cheaper than DDR, but you may find that components for 939 may be a little cheaper (except for the RAM)

I would say the Asus, Asus owns Abit, but Abit are lower end, as Abit are more quality.

I know this isn't exactly relevant but i used to use an abit NF7-S which was an absolutely fantastic mobo! It never went wrong on me and all the reviews i saw for it said it was probably one of the best amd32 bit mobo's ever made!! The only reason I'm not using it still is that i got a 64bit system really cheap! It has an asus mobo which is good, but nowhere near as feature packed as my old NF7-S was!!!!

Dell mobos are a POS I agree. But other ASUS mobos are of very good quality. I have a spanking new ASUS LGA775 mobo and not only does it have a lot of features but it has never given me any problems at all. But when given the above two mobos, I would prefer to go with the Abit one, because it has a much better chipset than the ASUS one.
@Baltan, get this processor instead since it's dual-core and cheaper than the Athlon 64 u posted. Also, this PSU will be more than enough for ur configuration. In addition this RAM is only around 50p more expensive than the one u posted earlier but has lower latency and better timings which will give much better performance. Also Geil produces good-quality RAM, as do pQi, mushkin, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston and Corsair.

Rage_3K_Moiz how do you know what ddr2 memory goes with that specific motheboard. Because it doesnt say on the description usually it would say ddr sdram (pc3200) on other boards. Also what do you mean by u would prefer to go with the Abit one, because it has a much better chipset than the ASUS one.

1. ABIT is not low end at all. their quality and features are right up there with the other big names.

2. ASUS does not own ABIT. I think you are confusing ABIT with ASRock.
2a. ASUS does own ASRock, they design the ASRock motherboards and ECS manufactures them.

@Baltan, the Abit mobo has an nForce 590 SLI chipset, while the ASUS has an nForce 570 SLI chipset. Both differ in the fact that they allow a different number of PCI-Express lanes to be utilised. The nForce 590 allows all PCi-Express lanes to be utilised i.e. 2x16 configuration, while the nForce 570 limits it to a 2x8 configuration, so the nForce 590 delivers the fastest performance. That GigaByte mobo is also good, since it also has an nForce 590 SLI chipset. To find out about the memory, click the specifications option on the mobo's page. Both mobos support PC2-6400 RAM and they don't differ much in price, so get either of them. The rest of the system look great. Good work.:grinthumb

Yeah. But an upgrade to PCI-E is a lot better since PCI-E cards are a lot cheaper than AGP ones nowadays. If ur into heavy gaming, get a Radeon X800 series card or a GeForce 6800 series card.
