That system looks great!

But if he can stretch his budget a little, he can get a much better video card, like the Radeon X1950XT:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102067

It would surely trash the 7900GT

Also, if he's not going to use SLI or Crossfire, there's no need for that 700W PSU. A cheaper, Antec or FSP one would do the job very well

Personally id opt for getting a 8800 GTX card if he has the budget. Being the only Direct X10 card available at the moment it would be the best for future proofing.... Not sure what the score on SLI is for them at the moment though.... as some places have said get two and then wait for the driver update.

Either way it still kicks the behind of everything else at the moment.... especially for playing Oblivion which has been used by several sites to test it

Yeah the 8800s still needs the SLi driver update because if you dont have that your comp would blow up if you dont have enough power =P

Yeah there is that to it but is it really worth building a new computer with none direct x 10 graphics cards? Id tell him wait till Vista is released personally but each unto his own

God help us when quad sli hits with those 8800 GTX cards, you wont need a PSU just your own Nuclear Power station to run it

Yeah they are good specs, with being in the market for a new machine myself ive just been reading up on anything and everything I can find about DX10, Vista and all the rest of the garbage so that I can get the best machine for my money....

Also until Microsh**e actually release there new wonder products (wonder why we bought them) Nobody is going to know what the 8800's are going to be capable off.... as of yet they cant be fully tested!

Crafty beggers!

Actually, it seems like most of the features were stolen from linux, and the widgets were stolen from mac. But yeah, as you said they just steal all the ideas from everyone else and call it unique.

you were in the beta play for Vista? That had too many viruses to even work, I think Techspot had a thing on the front page about vista in beta and it said that it would Remotely control the user's computer xD
