Hey, could anyone help me with this problem? I figured I'd try the net before I take the ps2 to a repair shop

My ps2 is not reading any ps2 memory cards but its reading all ps1 memory cards and all ps2 and ps1 games.
Could anyone tell me what may be wrong with the ps2 and wether or not the ps2 is beond repair(it's not the cards since they work perfectly on my friends ps2)

Do you have one of those Slim PS2s?

The slim ones tend to be Crap because since they are alot slimmer Sony took out parts in the bigger PS2 to fit into the smaller one so it might have lost something important?
