My cpu isnt working right

ok i went to a flea market(gasp!) and bought my self a socket 370 1ghz cpu. i installed it in my main computer booted up and it ran so loud then quieted down. i went to cpuid website(google cpuz) and checked to make sure it was running right. the program said that i had a 1ghz cpu ok but then it said my current core speed is 751mhz. is it something i did or what?

Please post your motherboard model number and ram information (how many sticks of what speed), and also a screenshot of the CPUz screen.

i dont know how to post a screen shot let alone make one. i was told that it might be jumper settings? i cant find any jumper settings
bus speed=100mhz
multiplyer=7.5

You'll need to find out your motherboard make/model and download it's manual. You should be able to get your motherboard information from cpuz, then google to find your manual. The jumpers settings should be outlined there.
