Network Adapter- This device cannot find enough resources that it can use. (Code 12)

I recently replaced the motherboard and power supply on my Dell Dimension 4700C. I was unable to get the exact same board that the PC shipped with, but the only difference I can see between the two boards is that the new one has a firewire connection. Everything works fine except for the network connection. When I go to the device manager, it lists the status of the network adapter (Broadcom 440X 10/100 Integrated Controller) as "This device cannot find enough resources that it can use. (Code 12)". I have tried disabling other devices to no avail. I also cannot see any drivers relating to the firewire connection to try to disable it. I looked in the BIOS for anything related to IRQ settings, but I cannot find any. Finally, I did a complete Windows reinstall, but I am still getting the same error. I do not want to use a wireless connection nor do I want to use a USB network adapter. Any advice?

System specs
In BIOS, disable any devices you don't use. Serial ports, parallel ports, IRQ for VGA, IDE (if you don't have any IDE devices), floppy, etc etc.

I do not have serial ports, parallel ports, or IRQ for VGA in my BIOS. I disabled floppy drives and Firewire, but I am still getting the same error that there are not enough resources.

sure sounds like an IRQ conflict -- go thru the list and write them all down
