Fedora Linux

Well, I'm building my first pc but I want to run Linux by itself for a while. My pc has ne OS on it right now. Actually, I just finished putting it together. I was wondering if you guys could give me some help on this subject. These are my system specs.

Mobo- Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
CPU- AMD Athlon64 4000
RAM- 1gb MEM (2 512M sticks)
HD- Western Digital 250GB

As I said before, I don't have any operating system on my pc yet. Can I still install Linux?

Yes. Burn the iso(s) you download to cd/dvd, boot from that, follow onscreen directions.

the sequence for getting Dual Boot (even two or more )
1) partition the drive, one per OS (plus one for swapping)
2) format the first partition as NTFS, the rest as Linux ext 3
3) install the Windows product first
4) install your first alternative OS and write the GRUB loader into the MBR
5) any 3rd OS next and have it update the MBR too.

your system boot will then present ALL systems as boot choices and
you can predefine a default.

Now you're already instructing how to install Windows as well...

Can't we have just one member who doesn't have some version of Windows installed?

(besides, Prolapse asked how to run Linux by itself)

I appreciate your view , however IF one needs Win/* (oxymoron?)
then the sequence is in fact important.
