Your CPU temps

I was thinking it might be a good idea to post your temps here so other users can see what temps they can expect to get with their CPU/cooling combinations.

To standardise this, we'll use the same program, coretemp, which is free, easily downloadable, user-friendly, etc.

And to make it easy to read, it'll be good to list things in a particular order:
CPU/cooling/voltages/idle-temp/load-temp (in celcius). If you have not messed with voltages (and don't know values), stock is fine. If you've changed it, enter the voltage applied.
e.g: E6300/stock/stock/25/50

If you're using watercooling, just state the waterblock, and number of 120mm fan your radiator holds.
e.g: E6300/swiftech storm/stock/20/22

If you've overclocked, just put the speed after your CPU.
e.g: E6300@3.5ghz/LN2/2.0/-150/-140

I understand that this doesn't give ambient temp, but we don't really have a good way to standardise that, so the data would be useless anyway. This data is still good for measuring difference between idle and load temps.

To get load temps, use Prime95. However, if you're using an Intel Processor, the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool would show higher temps, and should be used instead if possible.

Mention anything else which you might think is relevent (e.g. modified, lapped, etc)

If enough people post, I might just update the list on first post to make it even easier to read.

E6400/Ultra-120/stock/20/35

Please post your temps in the format as mentioned above.

You should have voltage in there.

CPU/cooling/voltage/idle/load

So mine would be:

A64_3200+@2.4GHz/CNPS7000B-Alcu(silent)/1.5125V/37C/53C

I think this is a great idea... if enough people post, it should be a sticky.

I reckon its a great thread to have in an overclocking forum if we end up having one.

Also, I think its a great idea to have voltages.

Also, people can add comments such as fan speeds if there's native control (such as on most Zalman fans). Only low, medium or high, we don't want to drown people in information, it'll make it alot harder to sift through data.

Nice idea to standardise on a Windows only program.

Updated the first post.

Sorry, but we gotta standardise on a program thats easily available, and proven to be relatively accurate. And this program came up repeatedly, so I chosse to use it.

Do you hyave any suggestions? You can still post your temps, as I don't check if you've used the programs mentioned, or followed my methology. This thread is supposed to give people a rough guide, not an exact reading.

I like the idea of this list

I just wish it would be made a sticky. Although I guess that wouldn't happen until we had a huge database.

I think I might have turned the Orthos off to soon, mines really low haha
It faltered between 39-41 till about 40000 iterations, and by 60000 it was steady at 43.

P4 630@3.6/Tt BlueOrb/1.4v/20c/38c <- Winter ambient room temp was about 20c
P4 630@3.6/Tt BlueOrb/1.4v/30c/60c <- Summer makes a big difference room temp is around 26c, but where my computer sits doesn't get much airflow and is probably closer to 30c, ambient case temp is 35-40c

CPU: AMD Opteron 165 @ 2.7 GHz

Heatsink: AMD's stock heatsink for this model

Fan: Nexus Real Silent 120mm case fan

No case fans, just another Nexus 120mm for the graphics card, replacing its noisier fan.

Ambient temperature: 20C

CPU idle temperature: ~32C (Cool'n'Quiet enabled)

CPU load temperature: ~69C (after running two cpuburns for a while)

The temperature measurements come from Linux kernel's own Opteron temperature sensor driver.

CPU voltage 1.375V (default 1.35V).

True, but it doesn't have a great effect on CPU temps. Not sure what temps your CPU run at, but its a decent heatsink which seemed to have performed quite well for you.

Also thought I'll link this thread to my overclocking thread, so there's no real need to make this a sticky.

But of course, if there's enough numbers, it might provide a useful enough resource to be a sticky, but we'll see if we get enough replies.

hey hey interesting thread that got my attention!

check out my temp, what yall think?

my CPU spec is on my profile :-D
the strangest thing i found was that my cpu temp always stay at the range of 42*c (idle and load),and my video card temp constant rate of 54 while idle and 63 in heavy gaming load.

Hmmm...

Never used Everest as a way to determine temps, just too big and bulky for something so simple :P

Besides, if you wanna do something the best way, find something that only does that thing. A program such as Everest tries to be an all-in-one program doesn't end up being good at doing any particular thing.

Still a great program to check out a pc's components tho.

Anyway, we'll need more information. I'm sorry but I have to refuse to update information which I have to dig. Imagine if EVERYONE who posted their temps asked me to check their profile; I might end up spending hours just compiling everything.

Besides, I think you got your temps wrong, its impossible to have your load and idle temps the same. Maybe not impossible, you can do it with a really huge heatsink, or very high flow watercooling loop, on a processor thats been seriously underclocked and undervolted. Then the temp change will be negligible.

But at 42C, your temps are quite fine!

Hi

Just to say i use PC Wizard 2007 (freeware) its a powerful utility designed especially for hardware detection but also can analyse
Quote:
CPU performance, Cache performance, RAM performance, Hard Disk performance, CD/DVD-ROM performance, Removable/FLASH Media performance, Video performance, MP3 compression performance.
It works very well, and supports the Logitech G-Series keyboard LCD screen " good news for me and any one that uses one"
