Ok guys! I got my video card installed.

i had to use a rpm2tgz command for the rpm, then i used the command installpkg <filename> and it brought me through the install.

startx, res looks nice. But now i wanna tweak it so it looks, well nicer, more customizable.

Im using KDE, not sure if this is the best one to use but it seems to be widely used by alot.

I liked that Screenshot that phantasm posted on how his looked.

Any information you can give me on customizing Xwindows for Slackware 9.0 would be great! Thanks.

It is available as a free 400MB download from their servers as an add on to the GUI and other parts of the operating system.

However, its only available for certain versions of Linux

If you have broadband, then maybe you should download the Red Hat Linux 9 iso files (3 CDs) and burn them. Then try the ximain download, from here.

If you want to stick with Slackware, try installing

DROPLINE GNOME ( http://www.dropline.net/gnome/ )

Or keep sticking with KDE and playing with that. That's pretty slick as well. All of these Windows Manager GUI things like GNOME and KDE are cool.

One other thing...some programs seem to take a LONG time to open. and some just dont open at all. Im sure im doing something wrong for the ones that dont open.

But the ones that take a while to open...what could that be? is there a setting to make it...per se faster?

And of course you should try GNOME if you haven't already done so.
