Downloading (torrents)

I know downloading is illegal, and i've heard about people getting fined and law suits gainst them for it adn getting their ip address logged and geting warning messages because of it.

I am just wondering to who this happens...are we talking serious downloaders or does it matter in what time frame you do a certain amount for example a week or a month?

Or do you just have to be unlucky?

How much do you have to do to be in with a chance of any of the above happening to you?

If someone could enlighten me on this subject it owuld be much appreciated,

Thank you,

Person123.

Depends on what you are after. Popular movies, new releases especially are gonna be watched, same with popular music and software.

I do know that a lot of people are watching as SNGX said; movies, and popular music....but I would think things like Vista Cracks and .ISO's as well.

Same thing applies that I already said, the chances of the RIAA watching on new releases and popular stuff is almost guarenteed on public trackers, its really a numbers/chance game. There are measures you could take to lessen that chance, but seeing as piracy discussion isn't tolerated here that is about as much as we are going to talk about that.

If you really want to 'stick it to the man' but still get what you want, buy used cds. Local record stores and places like amazon.com are good places to find used cds.

i got a warning from Columbia/Tristar Pictures when I was downloading Casino Royale. (It was an iso dvd rip)
they asked me to stop downloading it, and that was that.
i've been downloading for years and have acquired terabyte after terabyte of media, and this was the first warning i've ever received.

Hope this helps!

Okay, TechSpot does not condone the use of piracy to any means.
