Infranview problem HELP!

I'm using infranview to watch an avi. video clip. Everytime I try to play the movie I can hear the sound to movie but the actual movie doesn't show up. The only thing that does show up is, " Video not available, cannot find 'vids:XVID' decompressor." This is the only program that I know of that can run avi. files. Any suggestions on what to do?

.

Iv'e already DL'ed the latest plugins and that didn't work...it actually kind of made things more complicated. I'm still able to hear it and not see it tho. Same thing happens when I try to run it with WMP(windows media player), but when i try to use MC (media center) it can't read anything of the file, which is strange.
