If you have C&C: Renegade installed you might want to consider posting up the relevant display info. from your sysinfo.txt, located in the directory where Renegade installed e.g. D:\Renegade. This would be particularly interesting if you have non-NVIDIA hardware installed, which should feature better quality DXT1 support.

If you're wondering, so what? You can check out this page http://3dspotlight.com/reviews/hardw...laster-3.shtml to see what effect NVIDIAs DXT1 has in action. The workaround noted does NOT exist for Direct3D so it seems that Game Developers are being left little choice but to not use DXT1 with NVIDIA cards until NVIDIA decides to finally release a Graphics cards that does DXT1 properly.
Disabling DXT1 like any other texture compression format would only make the Game run slower than with it uncompressed.

I hope to be able to test this on a Kyro 2 later on, this supports DXT1 "only".
