I'm having a lot of problems getting a stable OC on my E6600; don't quite get how to set those voltages I guess.

My setup is:
CPU: Intel E6600 2.4GHz (FSB 1066.7)
Cooler: Zalman CNPS9500 LED @ max RPM
MOBO: ASUS P5N32-E SLi Plus
RAM: 2x 1024 Corsair XMS2 @ 4-4-4-12-1T
CASE: Antec P182 w/ 4x 120mm Fans (2x Exhausts; 1x Intake; 1x PSU/HDD)
GPU: ASUS 8800GTS 320 @ 650/900
HDD: 2x Seagate 7200.10 320GB on RAID0
PSU: Antec TP3-650

I want to get my CPU @ 3.2GHz on a 400 FSB (x8 multiplier)so I can have a 1:1 ratio with the RAM .
I have been able to get past POST and even boot in Vista Ultimate (32 bit), yet my PC freezes after a while.

My bet is that the vcore is the problem, as it seems to take longer and longer to freeze, but I don't want to fry my CPU . Highest I used is 1.4750V.

I'm not sure Intel checks their processors out to get even close to a 30% higher clock. I know they allow some leeway.

Maybe not the P4s but Core 2s can sometimes get a 100% overclock. Look at the E6300 and E4300s. They come at 1.86 and 1.80 GHz respectively, but they can both overclock to 3.5-3.8Ghz which is about a 96-110% overclock!

what version bios do you have? You wan't to have the 1002 at the least, if you don't have that get the 1003 then. Set the cpu vtt to 1.55v, and set your vcore accordingly. Also where are your temps at (idle and load) ?

oh yeah, the p5n32-e likes higher multipliers more than fsb, so if you can put your multi back to 9x and then up the fsb you may also see better results.

CPU temps don't go beyond 60C even when I booted @ 3.2GHz (400x8)
About the FSB, I read the Anand review and it said that at 9x they got 409, while at 7x 507 or something like that, so I guess that I should get 8x400 (stable) without much of a problem, I just need the right voltages

oops didn't notice you have the plus which has a different bios, sorry about that. As for the fsb, the 9x409 is 3681mhz, 7x507 is 3549mhz so having the higher multiplier is still faster. What are you using to check your temps? I would suggest using something like core temp the check the temps of each core, then run orthos for a few minutes to see what your core temps are under load.

i use the standard NVMonitor (from nTune) for temp monitoring
as for stressing I use various tests: CoH Performance Test, 3DMark06, DiRT, STALKER, Oblivion. I use FRAPS to measure the FPS.

try core temp to see how your cores are doing, they're higher than the cpu listed in nvmonitor

I'll check temps first, but you might have problems with RAM.

I'd scale back the timings and see how that goes, try 5-5-5-15 2T and check for stability.

Next, you might want to give us the Batch numbers for your processor. Those would give you a good indication of how well your processor would clock. A sample batch number would be L623G412. Thats a made up batch number, but immediately I can tell that it wouldn't overclock well....
