Toshiba P25-S477 hard drive failed, installed WD HD, won't boot from Windows XP CD...
Okay, so I have a Toshiba P25-S477 laptop. The hard drive on it has failed, and caused me to get the error message in windows (when it ocasionally boots) that windows needs to be validated, yadda yadda but it won't because the key "has already exceeded it's number of uses" Well.... I have a windows XP corporate CD, with key and whatnot, but when I put the new 80 gig Western Digital hard drive in and put the CD in, it doesn't give me any option to boot from CD.
The boot order is CD, Hard drive, then floppy and network (no floppy drive tho which leads to the next problem...How can I get it to boot from CD if I have no floppy drive to load drivers on with? |

check the jumper settings on your old hdd. if it was in master position, then, try another HDD. there are problems with toshiba's laptops when using HDD such as WD or ST.

you will need to make a bootable cd from a computer with a floppy.
