I cant identify the problem..but I have reason to believe my computer is either overheating on my vid card or my pcu..problem is..both fans work..I have 2 fans on the case, one on vid and the pcu fan.

Problem: When I play SOME games I start to hear a beep about 5 mins into it. And if I play too long while it beeps, my comp shuts down. But other games like...World of Warcraft are fine at full settings. At default most games I play pic the best settings and yet I still get this BEEP noise. Ive cleaned out my comp so there is lil to no dust..all the fans run..So im at a loss. Ive run a temp test, and everything is fine

Help?

What games do cause it to shut down?

What kind of memory do you have, and what capacity?

check your power supply. what kind of wattage do you have?

and what is your exact setup?

run a dxdiag and tell us your specs and we can start figuring things out. just in case you dunno how to do that, start-->run--> and type dxdiag.

One other suggestion that I would say is to check the CPU fan/heatsink connection and also to make sure you have some thermal grease in between the CPU and the heatsink. Sometimes the grease will dry out and this can cause serious problems with overheating. Also the beeping is likely to be something that your BIOS is watching, hence the beeping, which would come from an onboard speaker, garaunteed that you would hear it.

Games list: Two Worlds Demo, Medal of Honor Airborne, sometimes Titan Quest at high settings..but ive never had this problem. something is prolly old..that grease explanation sounds interesting.

Can you give us your power supply specs? We need the Brand, watts, and the Amps on the 12+ volt line. This info should be listed on a sticker located on the power supply itself. You will probably need to remove the computers side panel to view it.

One other question, is this a "store bought" system? If so, did you add the graphic card later on?

No I build my comps. Im just not that comp savey.

And the wattage is...480 12v is 0.8a. its a demon silver chrome

I guess I am rather tired, or just plain stoopid tonight, but I don't see anything in your system list from DxDiag that describes in detail the motherboard, the memory, the video card, infestation removal software, hard drive, or the power supply... six of the areas most likely to cause this problem... the ones that give consistence to our evaluations.
Could you use Everest, or CPU-Z, Belarc, or just offer more detail.
It appears you have an ATI Radeon AGP video card, and 2 GB of RAM of unknown latency and timings, on an unknown motherboard.
It would be helpful to know the beep pattern, which would then be possible to evaluate if we knew the motherboard.
Have you run MemTest86 for four hours or 7 passes? Have you changed the video drivers? Why do you think it is a heat issue, when you have 2 + 2 fans running? What have you changed recently? What does your event viewer say, if anything, as to the repetitive nature of the failure? How old is the cpu fan? is it variable speed? Any chance it is slowing down?

Hopefully something is in there.. And I think its overheating cause it only does it on high graphic games..even if I turn the settings down..I can hear my comp get louder in terms of the PCU running and seems like its chuggin. I dont lag or anything in the game but it starts to beep..its maybe every 30 secs or so

I noticed something new. I DLed the trial for Tabula Rasa..ran it at full settings..now it started to beep again..BUT I got the game into Window mode..it ran fine, no beep, no problems..So now im really confused.

I didn't read all the posts above but if your cpu gets too hot, some pc's do have an overheat alarm setting built in and when it exceeds whatever the warning temperture is, it beeps to let you know. If a cpu gets too hot it will shut down just like an overheated car will just quit. World of Warcraft probably doesn't work your system as much as this other program, that's probably all that is. If you can watch component tempertures as your system is going thru it's different paces, you will notice as the workload goes up, things will get hotter.
